Shawsheen River Trail park cleanup

Join us as we spruce up the banks trails, woods and riverbanks of Lawrence’s Shawsheen River Trail. The Shawsheen is a tributary of the Merrimack with its own watershed and fauna – like beavers and snapping turtles. The trail winds its way along the Shawsheen, through a near-pristine section of flood plain and riverbank ecology. Located between Lawrence High School and South Lawrence East School, this park has proven to be a great place for Lawrence school students to engage in outdoor science and nature education — it’s a unique resource in a densely populated neighborhood.

Unfortunately, some areas of the park are overrun with trash, and in need of a thorough cleanup. Please help us reduce the impact of trash on this park and the river, and beautify the trail system that winds along this river.

This event will happen on Saturday, May 13 from 10 am to noon. Ample parking is located at South Lawrence East School, 165 Crawford Street.

If you belong to a service club, environmental club, a plogging group, or scouting organization, or if you are interested in helping to improve our local environment, please join us!  We could use your help. This park will require multiple cleanup events to return it to a pristine state, and MRWC is committed to seeing that happen.

Registration is required. Please register HERE.

Many thanks to Merrimack Conservation Partnership and NBPT Cornhole for providing the funding to make this clean-up happen.
