Public Policy & engagement
MRWC is fighting for your river. We expose the problems, mobilize people and influence policy. This is how we harness a broad, nonpartisan political force to defend the Merrimack River. As the drinking water source for 600,000 residents, the recreational magnet for swimmers, boaters, paddlers, and the home of an abundance of wildlife, we choose to go boldly towards the vision of a clean Merrimack River. From testifying at the statehouse to guiding elected officials on paddling trips down the river, we are closing the gap between policy and the needs of our Merrimack River.
To protect clean air and drinking water, habitat for wildlife, and our beloved recreation sites on the Merrimack River watershed we must activate political support to generate policy that protects and enhances our watershed . And to activate political support, we need you.
MRWC uses the best available science and our 40 years of experience as the ‘Voice of the Merrimack’ to convene decisionmakers, generate press coverage, comment on permits and regulations, influence laws, and leverage our trusted partnerships with municipalities, businesses, non-profits, and our MRWC base of volunteers and supporters.
