Sturgeon in the Merrimack River

For thousands of years, these “living fossil” fish have inhabited in the Merrimack River. Maybe you’ve seen them leap out of the water, or heard stories about their gigantic size and prehistoric origins.
Join MRWC and our partners at the Custom House Maritime Museum in Newburyport as we hear from the unparalleled expert on our sturgeon, Micah Kieffer of U.S. Geological Survey. Micah has spent his career monitoring and studying the Merrimack’s sturgeon population, and is a wealth of fascinating information on this mysterious fish.
This event is presented by the Custom House Maritime Museum in partnership with the Merrimack River Watershed Council
