Dracut Public Meeting – Collinsville Dam Removal on Beaver Brook

Date: Tuesday, June 16, 2026 Time: 6:00 – 7:00 PM Location: Harmony Hall, across from 1655 Lakeview Ave, Dracut, MA (remote option available)

Imagine Beaver Brook flowing freely again — open all the way to the habitat that river herring, American eel, American shad, and sea lamprey once relied on before the mill era. That’s what’s on the table for Dracut.

The Town of Dracut is hosting a public meeting to share the latest on the proposed removal of the Collinsville Dam. Once a driver of local industry, the dam no longer serves that purpose, and removing it would reopen miles of aquatic habitat, improve public safety, and strengthen the community’s resilience to a changing climate.

This project is supported by the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program and the Merrimack Restoration Partnership, and reflects a true collaboration among the Town of Dracut, the dam owners, the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration, GZA, Lowell Parks
