Benefit Kayak Raffle Results Lowell, MA - July 7, 2010 The winner of the new Malibu Extreme Kayak raffled off by the MRWC was selected at the MRWC Social! on July 7th at the Lowell BeerWorks. About 30 members and friends gathered for the Social! and enjoyed appetizers and cooling drinks on a hot night in Lowell. Visiting the group was State Senate candidate Chris Doherty who was drafted to pull the winning ticket from the 'dry bag'. Digging deep into the bag of raffle tickets (after considerable shuffling and rustling of course) Mr. Doherty slowly pulled out the exclusive ticket and read the name out loud: Karen Felton of Andover, MA. [see video] Upon noting that the winner was not present, a soft groan rose up above the silence from the group, probably reflecting the non-winners but also that Ms. Felton was absent. Mr. Doherty pretended to discard the ticket and reach for another setting off spontaneous laughs and applaus.
